rescuing my 2014 pc!!!

this is Ada Prime.

she is called like that cuz all my computers are called Ada, but she was the first Ada. she was, and still is, the first computer i ever bought with my own money. when she came back she wasn't giving any image output, and it took a whole night of tinkering and a BIOS reset (which i think was what did it lmao) to get her to work. and boy does she work.

first pic taken right after rescue. yea that's windows 10 lmao she wasn't happy about it one bit, my stupid ass thought it'd b fun to see if it ran it before i gave her away some years back

as you can see, she's dusty af in that pic. i've since given her a nice isopropyl bath and booted her up with linux Mint- XFCE desktop. it's what she needed. she's rocking a whooping 8gb of ram, and an impressive GT 730 Nvidia graphics card with a whole 2gb of VRAM. what a beast lmao

i pieced her together as best as a broke student could, and she was with me for about 10 years. 2 years ago i gave her away to a friend who needed literally any pc. and now, she has come back to me. it is my moral responsibility to care for her and give her back the place she deserves as the computer i do all my goblin shit on.

stay tuned for me to show you around Ada P's desktop - loaded with a Windows95 theme - as soon as i can get a decent monitor for her that isn't a 2009's Samsung 32" TV with vertical lines all over it (yes, i reseated the ribbon cable and it didn't make it worse but it AINT BETTER). for now, welcome home my child <3 <3
